Setting Up The New Computer
Last night and today, I have been setting up this new computer. This computer is mainly for work, my writing that is. My husband decided to get me my own computer, since I have become serious about writing.
I was supposed to wait for him to set it up and install the programs, but I got tired of waiting. Who needs a man anyway? Certainly not me, at least for this purpose. Still, it's certainly nice to have him around.
So the computer is set up minus Corel Draw, we need to find an older full version. Just a matter of locating it. And, yes, I do draw, but mainly on the computer. It is easier to fix mistakes on it.
Still the main purpose of this computer is to write, so that is what I am doing. I finished another piece of flash fiction for the Flashxers Yahoo Group. I, wrote another poem. Which you can see on my other blog, Writer's Quest. Well, you can as soon as I get it posted.
My two female dogs have been going around and around today. I thought, I had the fight broken up with Molly and Corky going to different rooms. I reached down to direct Corky and Molly lunged at her and bit me. I know, stupid of me to get between them when they were still in fighting mode.
I am going to leave you on that note. Don't forget to write!

Success, success, success...

The Write-On Writers Conference was a huge success. It was entertaining and well executed.

Personally, I think the opening speaker, Dandi Daley Mackall should have been the speaker for the whole day. She was interesting and knowledgeable. She has written both fiction and non-fiction, and both children's and adult books. I, also, had her for the Children's Writers Have More Fun for the afternoon session. Also, Dandi went table to table introducing herself and meeting each person individually. If she is shy she didn't show it, though I find most writer's are able to cover up their innate shyness through talking.

When I got home that evening, I still had to write a story for the 24 Hour Short Story Contest, as well as a poem for the Poem a Day Challenge. I was bushed by the end of the night. I turned in before 10 p.m.

I was up early this morning to look over my short story so that I could submit it. It wasn't until after I went to lie back down, that I realized I made a huge error at the end. I will be more careful not to overbook myself next time. -Rita

My husband bought me a little green machine to help combat my two dogs that feel the house is fair game for their potty breaks. It is small enough that I can lift it. Which is always good when one has arthritis and muscles that forget their function. I tried it out and it's easy to use. Clean-up of the machine and attachments is easy, too.

Tomorrow is the Coshocton Writers Conference. I am looking forward to going. This will be my first writing conference, though I have been to many conferences as a social worker. This time I will be taking notes, where as in the past I was there for the certificates. I know that sounds bad, but I rarely attended a conference that gave me new information. I am sure that the writers conference will be very different.

April Poetry Month is almost over. I have managed to write a poem daily. I feel proud of myself. I know many of the poems need to be polished, but I did put pen to paper and write them.

Tomorrow is the 24 hour short story writing contest. I have entered this too. I didn't look at my calender until after I had signed up. So when I return from the conference, I will be writing. As well, as writing the poem for tomorrow.

I like being busy.

Still hitting myself on the head for yesterdays incident. It wasn't the first time I did this. It probably won't be the last. I could only hope that I never repeat my mistakes, but time doesn't seem to have taught me much. I ain't the the brightest bulb.

Today, I have been dropping things. I broke a cute little flower pot. I didn't break my water glass, but I sure did try. It landed really hard on the floor, which is concrete. I hate it when my hands forget what they are doing.

I was productive today. I cleaned the carpet, now I can only pray that my dogs don't use the carpet anymore.

The kittens are getting around the house. Right now I am fighting Renegade, who keeps trying to climb on the keyboard. I keep telling the kittens, they are too young to surf the net.

Ken is home and trying to work his puzzles, but the kittens keep interfering. It is funny. He wanted them to pay attention to him and they are.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!!! I say as I am smacking myself on the head. I went to the laundry mat today. I locked my purse in the trunk, because I didn't want it to be in my way. I had the laundry going and decided I was thirsty. So, I went to the car to get a couple of bucks for the pop. I finished up the laundry and took one of my baskets to the car. Reached in my pocket. Tried the other pocket.

No keys!
I look in the car window. There they lay plain as day on the passenger seat. It took me a half hour to get my car unlocked with a hanger.

BTW- I called my hubby and he was sleeping so soundly he didn't here me. I would have been mad if it wasn't for my stupidity.

I wrote a poem about today's experience. To see it go to http://www.ycitywriters.com/forum/index.php?action=forum
