Finding Inspiration

I find inspiration for my stories or poetry in many different places. The other night we had a wicked winter storm. It inspired me to write a poem. In fact, I could not go back to sleep until the poem was on paper. This one was just not letting go. I have started keeping a pen and a pad of paper by the bed in case I have an idea during the night.

I sometimes find inspiration in little things when I am out. Sometimes, it might be a gesture used by someone in a store. Inspiration is everywhere if you are paying attention. I keep a small composition book in my purse to jot down things that I notice.

Inspiration can come in the most unusual places. Sometimes the inspiration is for my camera or other times for my pencil. No, I am not a photographer, but I do enjoy my new toy. My favorite subjects are my pets and family. Sometimes though it might be an icicle or a strange type of moth that is called a hummingbird moth. This fast little creature fascinated me from the first time I saw it.

In conclusion, be prepared where ever you are to write down tidbits of things that inspire you.
