Parallel Lines by Laura Moe takes us on a journey as Nick grows from a punk kid with no future into a young adult with a more promising outlook on life. It is an emotionally charged look at teenagedom through a teens diary interspersed into the story. The story shows how one teacher can make a difference and how once Nick begins opening up to her (Mrs. C.) he opens himself up to others.I enjoyed this YA novel immensely and recommend it to others especially teenagers. Although I left childhood behind many years ago I could identify with Nick as will any reader.
