Public Speaking

Again it has been brought to my attention that writers need to know how to speak in public.

Alas, I am not a public speaker. When I speak or read in public, I suddenly forget how. I stutter and stumble over words. I know, as with everything, that practice makes perfect. Right now I am a long way from perfect.

One of the Y-City Writers has suggested recording yourself speaking and playing it back, until you can get the breathing and the tone of what you're saying right. I am going to listen to this advice. In the meantime, I will continue to read my flash pieces at the Open Mic Nights.

I will be hosting our writers conference, hopefully by then I will be good to go. Wish me luck. -Rita
