Happy 4th of July

Everyone enjoy today. It is the birth of our nation. The day we began our fight for independence. That is why we are still fighting today, to maintain our independence for our nation and our citizens. Remember those who are oversees fighting for us today and keep them in your prayers as you celebrate our freedom. And most of all pray for peace.

Books I am reading...

I just finished reading Blood Noir by Laurell K. Hamilton. It is the latest of the Anita Blake books. I love her stories. I am particularly fond of the Merry Gentry series. If you like vampires and the like or faeries and aren't afraid of sex, blood and gore these are good reads.

I am almost finished with a book by Teresa Slack called The Ultimate Guide to Darcy Carter. It is a love story about a writer who is avoiding writing the book her editor wants...The Ultimate Guide to Finding Mr. Right.

It is a slower paced story. The character development is outstanding as a fellow writer from my group pointed out. Teresa Slack weaves the characters so well that when religion pops into the story it is just part of the character and doesn't seem all preachy to this reader. Teresa Slack is a Christian Writer. I love Darcy's story.

I have been writing pieces of flash fiction. I lost the voice for Saving Beauty and am trying to find it fast. I want to submit the story by the end of the year.

I have been finding that I am letting some of my stories hang with unanswered questions. I need to work on this even though they are intended to be Flash Fiction. They may actually be beginnings of bigger stories. I will need to work on this.

I am finding that stories about Werewolves and Vampires, my genre of choice, are a dime a dozen. I need to find that niche that will make mine different in both my flash and longer stories. I may need to take control of the stories instead of them writing themselves, but I will make it happen.

Thanks for your comments about Darcy. I love her story too. Is that self-serving since I wrote it? Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the book.
